ABOUT ALTER BOY
AUSLAN INTERPRETER: LUKE EASTMAN
Fronted by hard-of-hearing vocalist Molly Priest, and Auslan Interpreter Luke Eastman, Alter Boy boldly evoke and exercise accessibility and inclusion. They combine heartbeat-like rhythms with visual storytelling and bespoke lighting to create an otherworldly experience that is very much of this world. Hot off their World Pride Closing Party appearance, they promise something unforgettable.
Queerlectro pop band, Alter Boy, has been creating ripples of excitement in the local music scene for the past two years. Channeling the dark theatrics of Sleep Token and The Prodigy, peppered with hints of Banks and London Grammar, their indie dance-pop mashes modern R&B, dark beats and haunting vocals.
SUPPORTED BY – JUNE JONES
AUSLAN INTERPRETER: BELLE KALOSHIN
June Jones is a Sydney-based songwriter, singer, producer, and performer, whose approach to music has continued to grow and shapeshift throughout her career. She has just released Bubblegum, her second single with Chapter Music, after Good Girl in July. These two tracks are the first part of June’s self-proclaimed ‘Desire era’, in which she is embracing a more embodied pop sound in celebration of pleasure, connection, and you guessed it – desire. As a solo artist, June has released three full-length albums and toured so-called Australia multiple times. She took her new songs to London in August, where she performed at Somerset House and Dalston Superstore. They bring their captivating live performances together for MELT Festival 2023.
June Jones is one of the shining stars of Australia’s alt-pop scene. After self-producing three albums, she’s excited to be releasing new music with her new label, Chapter Music. June has performed with the likes of Cate Le Bon, Julien Baker and Katie Dey, played everywhere from Brunswick Music Festival to Sydney Mardi Gras, and been nominated for multiple AIR and Music VIC Awards.
