Join Kira Puru who will reflect on their latest release ‘Talk with Me’ and discuss their approach to the whole creative process, with Kira directing the video clip and creating the artwork.
Kira Puru is a multi-disciplinary artist and musician based in Naarm/Melbourne. Known for her dynamic live performances and whip-sharp commentary, Kira is widely respected as one of Australia’s biggest voices. Gathering a cult following with her hypnotic debut, ‘Tension’, Kira’s star is ever-rising. Her second hit ‘Molotov’ landed at #75 on triple j’s Hottest 100, and her most recent offering, ‘Talk With Me’, enjoyed several short stays as #1 on triple j’s most played.
Hailing from Newcastle (Awabakal and Worimi country), Puru cut her teeth performing with local bands on the live circuit and quickly earned collaborations with Australian greats like Urthboy, Illy and Paul Kelly. Graduating to the more refined alternative pop style showcased on her acclaimed self-titled EP in 2018, Kira’s music examines universal themes of lust, heartbreak, and freedom through a lens that acknowledges queerness and cultural identity, delivered with playful cynicism and a suggestive wink.
