Get ready to dance in the street, graze all day and soak up the best of the Balmain peninsula as Darling Street is transformed into a lively neighbourhood celebration.

On Sunday 30 November, the inaugural Festival of Balmain will take over Darling Street – from the town hall to Gladstone Park – with live music, roving performances, creative workshops, markets and more.

Across three stages, the festival celebrates all-things jazz, while bringing in fresh new sounds and styles from across the community. Headline act, SUB-TRIBE, is a jazz-infused dub-reggae band, whose glitchy beats and soaring harmonies are sure to get you moving. Joining them will be Son Patacore, with their vibrant Colombian rhythms, synth-pop duo Alibii and the sublime songs and dance of Yulugi – to name a few – as well as performances from next-generation talent and local schools.

Beyond the stage, expect roving and pop-up acts throughout the day, including Curious Legends’ other-worldly, oversized puppets, and bopping tunes from Dr Dan and the Gris Gris Combo

Get creative at an all-ages interactive workshop, whether it’s photography skills or hat-making, or join a tour of one of Balmain’s historical landmarks. Otherwise, get amongst the novelty-sized Jenga with Garden Games before bringing your pooch down to the Dog Zone in Gladstone Park. And be sure to check out the creative stalls, curated by Balmain Village Markets, alongside a diverse array of food vendors, local community organisations and local brewers and distillers.
