Martin Seligman, a founder of positive psychology, holds that wellbeing is central to positive psychology and that the goal of positive psychology is to increase “flourishing” – positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment (PERMA).
Within the performing arts industry, everyone is heavily invested in the creative and artistic output – from management to marketing, actors to lighting designers, dramaturgs to ushers. Everyone has a hand in the end product. Bad reviews, small houses, repeated rejection, and the unavoidable moments where things don’t go as planned can have an impact on our mental health, our lifestyle choices, and on our flourishing.
This workshop is about moving beyond just ‘coping’ or recovering quickly from difficulty (resilience) – towards flourishing. It provides nuts and bolts techniques to increase your capacity for flourishing, during good times and during times of stress, setback, and challenge within the industry.
