This August marks thirteen years since the Marriage Act was amended to restrict marriage rights to heterosexual couples.

Every August since, marriage equality activists have rallied to mark this anniversary and to take a stand for LGBTI equality. In Melbourne the occasion is traditionally marked by a mass illegal wedding in defiance of the discriminatory law. This year will be no exception.
