What’s it like growing up with a gay parent?

As a 25th birthday treat, Midsumma favourite Dean Bryant (Prodigal, Liza (on an E), Britney Spears: The Cabaret) interviewed children of all ages about their lives. From pre-schoolers to now-parents themselves, these ‘gaybies’ have grown up in the unusual circumstance of having to come out on behalf of their folks.

Using only their words and a group of Australia’s favourite stars and new talents, Gaybies is an enchanting and hilarious celebration of the modern family. Staged in MTC’s astonishing Sumner Theatre and directed by esteemed verbatim theatre expert Daniel Clarke, Gaybies is a special 25th birthday commission from Midsumma.  Starring Todd McKenney and Magda Szubanski.
