President Bush said of the attack that “night fell on a different world”. As the towers fell in New York, twin girls were born in suburban Australia…
…into a world that was irrevocably changed. Increased security, constant surveillance, loss of privacy – often voluntarily through the use of smart phones , portable tracking devices, social networking and search engines.
Stunning, immersive and thought-provoking, I saw the second one hit investigates Australia’s adolescent relationship to the US. It considers the genetics of power, from the microcosm of the family to global politics.
Starring twins Juliette and Madeleine Hemphil, born in 2001, I saw the second one hit asks us to take a look at this different world that these twins, now teenagers, inhabit: their beliefs, their fears, their politics and their calisthenics.
