Nominee Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award 2014

The critically-acclaimed, thought provoking and always hilarious Sara Pascoe returns to Melbourne with Animal – a show about empathy and its limitations.

Animal is a mixture of completely true stories about Tony Blair, Oedipus Rex and the wildlife of London, plus stories that don’t sound true at all about glass ceilings in Japanese nightclubs, Henry the Hoover and when God took over the tannoy in Sainsbury’s supermarket. All animals evolved, but only humans evolved to the point of knowing they evolved. This troubling and confusing position is creatively explored in this brand-new show from one of the UK’s most inquiring comic minds.

‘Her timing is spot-on, her connection with the audience is genuine… Pascoe leaves the audience not only enthralled and in stitches, but educated.’ Herald Sun

‘Always clever, occasionally exquisite.’ The Independent (UK)

‘Pascoe’s lively mind teases out big questions with intelligence, silliness and self deprecation.’ The Guardian (UK)

Suitable for audiences 16+
