NAIDOC Week at Arts Centre Melbourne, 5–12 July.

Arts Centre Melbourne proudly continues its work with First Nations artists and communities in celebrating their storied culture, country and resilience.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to honour the history and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

50 Years of Deadly

NAIDOC Week started as a single day of protest. In 1938, over a thousand Aboriginal people marched through Sydney demanding citizenship rights. By 1975, that act of resistance became a movement. This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week and 50 years of themes celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and resistance.
