Through a series of Ballot Box discussions presented in partnership with the Australian Queer Archives (AQuA) we will explore how art making can intersect with archival work.

Part One took place on Sunday 4 June with Melbourne Now artist Raf McDonald in conversation with Coral Guan, Project Assistant, International Exhibition Projects, NGV. More information on Part One can be found here.

Part Two will feature conversations with Melbourne Now artists Hannah Gartside and Drew Pettifer on Sunday 25 June, hosted by NGV Curator Meg Slater and will respond to the following provocations:

Hannah Gartside
Share the story of an item of clothing or textile that has been handed down to you, and how you have preserved, honoured, or built upon its history. Why have you held onto it? What does it illicit for you that is meaningful.

Drew Pettifer
How do social values and historical context impact upon how histories are recorded and kept?

Hosted in Community Hall and in keeping with the spirit of Australian community halls, these discussions will be informed by your voices. We invite you to share your responses to the provocations here.
