It’s a controversial name, not a controversial message.

In solidarity with international cities, SlutWalk Melbourne stands against victim-blaming and slut-shaming.

Slutwalk Melbourne will commence from 1:00pm outside the State Library, and the march will continue to be a short one, down Swanston Street and finishing at Federation Square. There is no dress code, and all are welcome.

Join us once again for the annual Slutwalk march.

SlutWalk is a global movement and public protest that rallies against the notion of “victim blaming”- the concept that people who have been assaulted or raped made themselves a target through the way they dressed or acted.

On September 2nd at 1pm, we will be peacefully assembling at the State Library in Melbourne- as we do every year- to stand in protest against victim-blaming and slut-shaming; we will be standing in solidarity with all those who have been abused, and marching against a society that bends over backwards to disregard the feelings and safety of survivors, and protects their abusers.

THERE IS NO DRESS CODE.

The State Library is wheelchair accessible.

There will be an AUSLAN interpreter on the day.

There will be marshalls on hand to provide assistance, please see them if you have any questions or concerns. There will also be trigger officers who can help those experiencing trauma or need emotional assistance. Green ribbons will be made available to those who do not wish to be photographed by our Slutwalk photographer- please see a marshall on the day if you want one.

Please note: Slutwalk Melbourne is NOT POLITICALLY AFFILIATED. Please respect the space as one for survivors. No hawking of political brochures, merchandise, etc. You will be asked to leave.

Slutwalk Melbourne is LGBTIQA+ inclusive and pro-sex work. If you subscribe to other beliefs that ostracise those people, please do not attend. If you attend in order to berate, punish or otherwise hurt these people, you will be made to leave. You are not welcome.
