This new series of topical panels feature unique Australian voices from fiction authors and academics to activists and experts. Offering readers and writers diverse perspectives on feminism, climate change, wellness, technology and race, this is a great opportunity to join in the conversation.

Technology plays a pivotal role in our daily lives; in the way we work, communicate, shop and spend our time. This panel explores surveillance, connectivity, the changing workplace and the role of technology in consumerism.

Our panellists

Jim Chalmers – Glory Daze

As Labor MP and Shadow Minister for Finance, Jim was Chief of Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer before being elected to Parliament. With a PhD in political science and international relations, he’s the author of Glory Daze.

Lyn McLean – Wireless Wise Families

As Australia’s foremost consumer advocate on the issue of electromagnetic radiation (EMR), Lyn monitors and writes on the subject. Publisher of quarterly periodical, EMR and Health, she’s also Director of EMR Australia.

Richard Denniss – Affluenza

Formerly head of the Australia Institute, Richard is now its Chief Economist. Moving between policy-focused roles in academia, federal politics and think-tanks, he co-authored Affluenza and writes for the AFR and The Monthly.

Claire Corbett – Watch Over Me

Claire’s worked in film and government policy. After publishing her first novel, When We Have Wings, her fiction essays have been published in Southerly and Overland. She also writes on defence for The Diplomat and The Monthly.
