The creative team behind Opera Queensland’s smash-hit The Marriage of Figaro returns to bring this powerful double bill to life.
The Call is inspired by a remarkable true story about a woman left with nothing but a phone number. She dials, someone answers and so begins a conversation that changes everything.
The Human Voice finds our protagonist, Elle, alone and motionless in a room. She goes to leave but is stopped by the phone ringing. It is the love of her life. Rather than compassion she is confronted with a truth she finds impossible to accept.
The Call is an astonishing new Australian opera, composed by Connor D’Netto with Kate Miller-Heidke, and starring Ali McGregor, which shows how a single act of kindness can transform an entire life. Based on an original story told by Auburn Sheaffer.
The Human Voice, starring Alexandra Flood, will be accompanied by a full strength Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by rising star in the international music scene, Zoe Zeniodi.
Two incredible pieces, both serving as a poignant reminder that although we’re more connected than ever before, we’ve never been lonelier.
